Have you ever felt off during the day, even though there wasn’t anything particularly wrong? Have you stared blankly at your computer screen after sitting there for hours, not being able to focus? That’s your body talking to you… Listen to it.

Today I will be discussing with you how clutter, whether it’s in our bodies, offices, homes, or minds, creates blocks and detours us from achieving our goals. My solutions are simple, and yet powerful. They will help you center yourself through the ups and downs of life and help you counteract the whirlwind of emotions that blind you with anxiety and fear, keeping you stuck in survival mode, instead of living mode. Instead of thriving mode.
Every person I know has rituals, some good, some not so good. These rituals can catapult us to success, or they can spin us out of control, causing us to go nowhere fast. Because our minds, bodies, homes and offices are filled with clutter it often can cause us to feel overworked, exhausted, and out of control. A task that might normally take you an hour to finish at work could possibly take twice as long because you are unfocused and virtually drained.
Clutter is everywhere. In our homes, work, minds, and especially our bodies. And when we make the effort to clear out that clutter, we free ourselves from the bondage of chaos.
We are going to start out by determining what drains your energy throughout the day. Following that we will come up with simple solutions on how to combat those issues, and then I will share with you 6 simple steps that you can easily do each day to get organized, create more structure, and remove the clutter from your life.
Ready? Here we go! Start with a piece of paper and pen in hand. By the time you’re finished reading this, you will have a plan of action that is easy to follow every day.
Start by taking a deep breath, and give yourselves this hour to be here and focused. If your mind begins to wonder, gently bring it back to the present time and event and take a few more deep breaths to ground yourself and release all the tension of your day.
Now that you are ready, ask yourself: “What in my life is holding me back from my true potential? What drains me of my precious energy?” Write down your answers.
I’ll share a few examples I’ve come up with for myself.
Example 1. The number one thing that drains me of precious energy is unnecessary worry about the future.
When I was a kid I lived in foster homes. My family life wasn’t the greatest to say the least. I never had the guidance I needed, and at 16 I was living on my own in survival mode. For years I fought to make it. It was a tough transition to switch from survival mode to living mode. Now, I have the tools to remain calm, even when things aren’t going my way.
Solution 1. Visualize what you want to have happen.
My solution to needless worry? I focus on what happens when I succeed. For example, instead of imagining the devastating events that worry creates in my mind, I write down what I would like to have happen, I create a plan of action, and then I visualize successfully working out that plan every day. This takes practice, there have been many times where I have had to rewrite my plan; however, I eventually get it right, and it feels amazing.
